As I was saying, a week after Bandung/JKT - I flew to Bali to meet hubs who had work there. Flying alone for about 2 hours is no fun (I find out that I don't really like to fly BUT I love holidays!). Anyway before I ramble on & also because it's been too long & I really can't recall anything I'll just let the pictures describe themselves:

That's hubs - off to meet a client & I am tagging alone but not sitting in the meeting with him *yawn*

2nd time to Bali but 1st time to KUTA - how gorgeous?! But I really don't like the no of people on the beaches, too crowded for my liking (which is the case for the whole of Bali)

Jakarta trip in July

It's been a while since the last update. I need to keep up! Anyway as I was saying in several posts below - in July me & hubs & his family went to Bandung/Jakarta for a short holiday cum shopping (I didn't know yet I was pregnant then!). So I already shared about the Bandung part of the trip (3 posts before this). By the time we got to Jakarta there wasn't much else that we really did except enjoyed the hotel (Grand Hyatt JKT) & a lot of R&R & eating!

We left Bandung in the afternoon & only reached JKT in the evening (horrid traffic). And so we checked in & after since the whole area is within the central roundabout in JKT, our hotel was just next to an upscale mall (kinda like ION & Paragon back in Singapore).

Anyway here's some picture sharing:

The following (and final day for me) was to say bye to Hubs (he stayed in JKT for work and then to Bali & I was to meet him in Bali the following weekend).

This was in Shangri-La where Hubs stayed for his work trip.

After checking out his room & saying bye2, I left for the airport with MIL & SILs.

And that was the part on the JKT bit of the trip. After this trip (after a week), I left for Bali & met hubs there. So next update will be for that! I'm half a year behind in update. Damn.

1. Dua rakaat solat wanita yang hamil lebih baik dari 80 rakaat solat wanita yang tidak hamil.

2. Wanita yang hamil dapat pahala puasa disiang hari & pahala ibadat dimalam hari.

3. Wanita yang bersalin dapat pahala 70 thn solat & puasa serta setiap kesakitan pada satu uratnya, Allah bagi satu pahala haji.

4. Sekiranya wanita meninggal dunia dalam masa 40 hari selepas bersalin ia dikira sebagai mati syahid…

5. Wanita yang beri minum susu badannya kepad anaknya akan dapat 1 pahala daripada tiap titik susu yang diberikannya.

6. Wanita yang beri minum susu badannya kepad anaknya yang menangis maka Allah beri pahala satu tahun pahala solat & puasa.

7. Kalau wanita menyusui anaknya hingga cukup tempoh 2 setengah tahun, maka malaikat dilangit khabarkan berita bahawa syurga wajib baginya.

8. Seorang ibu yang menghabiskan masa malamnya dengan tidur yang tidak selesa kerana menjaga anaknya yang sakit dapat pahala seperti membebaskan 20 orang hamba.

9. Wanita yang tidak cukup tidur pada malam hari kerana menjaga anaknya yang sakit akan di ampunkan oleh Allah akan seluruh dosanya & bila dia hiburkan hati anaknya Allah beri 12 tahun pahala ibadah.

Yang benar itu dari Allah swt dan yang tidak benar tu adalah kedaifan saya sebagai manusia.

About 5 months ago, we found out we'll be having a teeny tiny one! I had suspected it since I missed my period (which is never a problem for me as I have always had them regularly). And hubster was coincidentally away on a work trip but I was to meet him there. So I bought those home kits at the airport - supposedly to surprise him!

True enough, they turned out to be...

...POSITIVE! All praise to Allah for blessing us.

I'm now in my week 26 and I couldn't be any happier and feel more blessed. ;-)

Bandung 20 - 22 Jul 2011

4 months ago we went for a Bandung/Jakarta trip. Let's start with the Bandung trip first. Since it's been quite a while, the 2 distinct things I remembered doing there was - shopping & sight seeing at Tangkuban Perahu (a volcano area). Also I can't really recall much but let the pictures do the talking!

We took an early Air Asia flight to Jakarta & took 4 hour car ride to Bandung - Jakarta traffic is the worse...

1. Like A Strong Binding Knot

‘Aisha raḍyallāhu ‘anha and the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam would use code language with each other denoting their love. She asked the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam how he would describe his love for her. The Prophet Muhammad answered, saying: “Like a strong binding knot.” The more you tug, the stronger it gets, in other words.

Every so often ‘Aisha would playfully ask, “How is the knot?” The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam would answer, “As strong as the first day (you asked).”

2. Love Twinkles

Once, as the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam was sitting in a room with ‘Aisha raḍyAllāhu ‘anha fixing his shoes, ‘Aisha happened to look to his blessed forehead and noticed that there were beads of sweat on it. Mesmerized by the majesty of the sight, she remained transfixed staring at him long enough for him to notice.

The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “What’s the matter?” She replied, “If Abu Bukair Al-Huthali, the poet, saw you, he would know that his poem was written for you.” The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam asked, “What did he say?”

She replied, “Abu Bukair said that if you looked to the majesty of the moon, it twinkles and lights up the world for everybody to see.”

So the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam got up, walked to Aisha, kissed her between the eyes, and said,

“Wallahi (By Allah) ya Aisha, you are like that to me and more.”

KL Road Trip

In April this year we went for a road trip with several of our close friends (is it the end of Oct already?!). We rented a 9-seater Ssangyong & off we headed to KL. It was just a R&R trip with a lot of food in between. As usual we stayed at Hotel Maya :-) Everyone enjoyed the stay at HM. Anyway not many pictures because I was using the previous Samsung, not that good quality. Oh & we had dinner at a great steak house, Prime at Le Meridien. Highly recommended, great steak & great cuts. All I remembered was the dessert. Gooh-hood.

We stopped at Putrajaya for dawn prayers.

Not much commentary, it has been more than 6 months after all!

Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa

So one Friday afternoon, I got a call from hubster, "Do you want to stay at Rasa Sentosa tonight?" From a no-plan Friday evening, it sounds like there will be a fun plan to look out for indeed! Thanks to Mama, we got a complimentary room. Its so nice working for hospitality, the benefits & contacts are definitely nice to have!

So I went back and pack (as quickly as I could) and we left for Sentosa - which was 10 minutes away from home. Before there we detour to Vivocity to buy food & snacks, by the time we reached Sentosa, it was already very dark & quite late. We walked down to the beach for a while but I was too tired and was ever ready to crash into their cushy bed.

The next morning we head out to breakfast - which had many kids & families (1 con about big chain hotels). It was not halal so I sticked to fruits & bread (croissants!). It was really bright & hot outside and I did not really want to walk about. So we stayed in & enjoyed the last minutes of our stay in the room.

I have been to Rasa Sentosa before not long ago, it was also because Mama had a complimentary room and hubster family stayed over so I just visited to see the room & the property. This time around it was a little bit of a rush & I wished we had a little more time to explore Sentosa in the evening. With 10 minutes away from home, maybe next time.

Ramadhan

With God's grace, we have reached 18 Ramadhan. How fast time flies. This time last year, I was counting down to 1 month until our solemnization date. And look where we are a year later.

Before I forget, I want to remind all of us to do our Zakat Fitrah. It is only $7 and let's do our part as Muslims. For more info, click here. Might I add that I am amazed that we are now able to contribute zakat via telepoll. Thank you MUIS for the efficiency.

And my lovely hubster celebrated his 29th last week. I still owe him a present (it's coming, I promise!) It was quiet & simple with family, just like him. And Ummi was eager to send him a birthday SMS only to find out that she's a day late - poor Ummi.

This Ramadhan is the most tiring & exhausting for me, indeed with challenges and I pray for Strength from Allah that I will be able to conquer my weakness. I am also looking forward to Syawal, then I know I would have completed Ramadhan with his blessings. Alhamdulillah, hubster has been well on his Terawih & so has I. And we look forward to seek his most greatest gifts for his servants on the last 10 nights of Ramadhan. We pray we are chosen to be embraced in prayers, doa and ibadah on the night of Lailatul Qadar. And also the night of Nuzul Quran just passed us. What a blessing it is for us to be given the impeccable words and phrases by the One & Only. I hope to continue supporting hubster to learn reading Quran too.

I think I will skip talking about Syawal because everyone else seems more excited on celebrating it then trying to grab all the blessings Allah will be showering on the night of Lailatul Qadar. Maybe when we have pictures from all the visiting & eating!

Putrajaya

Long overdue post. We headed to Putrajaya for our pre-wedding photoshoot (after our September nikah date). We were in town when the Malaysian astronaut got married because our shoot was the day after. But we weren't invited for the wedding, hehe. We stayed at Shangri-La Putrajaya & it was a lovely quiet place. Given that the place was the capital of Malaysian government administration, you don't really expect much. They had only 1 mall, Alamanda. Lucky though they had a shuttle bus to town, Bukit Bintang. So we went to BB

Fiza Zainuddin did my makeup. I should have gotten her for my makeup during my wedding! Hehe, alas. Anyway here are some links for her if you wish to get her to do any of your makeup. She does magazines & bridal, v talented. Her makeup is very clean, simple & elegant. Loves it. I truly recommend her. I look forward to catch up with her again when I'm in Malaysia.

We were registered at Registry of Muslim Marriages on the 29th September and shortly after we went to Putrajaya/KL for a photoshoot with Saiful Nang from Candidsyndrome. Coincidentally the Malaysian astronaut was married the day before and we got a slightly worn out photographer (who was the official photographer for his wedding). Nonetheless we absolutely love the pictures.

I think we have overpowered the blog with entries on our wedding but not much on wedding life. But then the blog WAS intended for the wedding.

Wake up for subuh, snooze a little bit more, rush for work, decide on if we'll be having dinner at home or outside,in bed by 12ish - such routine already. On weekends it gets a little exciting, visiting to either parents and/or resting at home.

And then I realized we haven't showed much of our new house! It's still not 100% complete (not the construction at least) but bits and parts are still not done e.g. curtains, we haven't decide on a carpet, we want more art around the house, some lights are missing, tatami mats, so as you can see it's still work in progress.

In the mean time I'll keep updating via iPhone, some pictures from our Penang trip, Zhak & Winda's wedding, our last minute comp stay at Rasa Sentosa & KL road trip.

15 minutes away from home, we decided to go watch the fireworks spectacular at Universal Studios Singapore (USS). It was just an after 6pm pass (with no rides) $5 walk on Hollywood strip and about 10 minutes firework spectacle at 8pm - only on Fri & Sat. We haven't had the chance to go USS though, insya Allah soon.

On a seperate note, a storm trooper was spotted cleaning the windows! ROFL

The whole year has been a whirlwind one but exciting times with loved ones. We moved into new home, went to Philippines for a friend's wedding, our sister got engaged, we hosted many house parties for our friends & families, KL road trip with friends, changed careers (with some surprises), Penang trip, put on pounds and many others we are trying to recall. Just about now our schedule for June seems to be packed to the brim too. We're off to Johor for a wedding at the end of May, 2 weddings in June and an Indonesia trip due at the end of June.

While we're off packing our bags, we thank Allah s.w.t. for all his blessings & hope that you will have/had a blessed & marvelous May/June!

Just got back the wedding albums from Candidsyndrome. 3 albums - Groom's dinner party on Friday, Bride's lunch on Sunday & the pre-wedding photoshoot. And we also got 5 CDs - that is over 6,000 high res images! Needless to say I am too tired to upload them any where. But I do intend to share a few & have a house party to view the pictures.

Looking back at the pictures, I could never say enough thanks in prayers because despite our shortcomings, Allah s.w.t. has never failed to bless us again & again, with love, faith, wealth, happiness. We are truly blessed with having & believing in Allah s.w.t. and his religion, Islam. And constantly praying thanks & salam to the Prophet s.a.w. and his companions who have sacrificed the world & their life just for Allah s.w.t., his religion & for us to embrace Islam ever since birth.

With that being said, just looking back a year ago, with our current position, we would not so much been blessed with what we have. So irregardless what we are given by Allah s.w.t., even if its not so easy to swallow for some people, we always pray for thanks - because he's the best of the best planner there is.

Friday night, 17th Dec - our wedding dinner however my dad was hospitalized for pneumonia after back from Haj in less than a week. His absence within the crowd was felt, my mum was in tears & I had to held back the tears but I was blessed that he was strong enough for the Sunday lunch. And we gone to the hospital for some shots. How many brides are as lucky as me? Alhamdulillah ;-)

All Girlz only

I hosted the girlz (from office) last week & we had pizzas and wings and Ben & Jerrys! We often have parties with the people in office and 99% of the time it involves going to the bar and talking about boring adult things (painful). So I told the girls there's no booze at my place so I dangled Ben & Jerrys and being girlz, they couldn't say 'No'.

So the girlz camped at our place for over 4 hours and we ate and ate and drank & dance to 'Dance Central Kinect'!

Wedding Rundown

It has been more than a month but someone has requested for me to do a rundown of my wedding & FF's details. Here goes:

Bride

Catering - Puteri (Aisha)
One of the well known caterers in Malay weddings so after all the horror stories of caterer dissappearing, getting Aisha was a safe bet. And indeed it was, the food was so good & the spread so big however we did not even get to eat much. We just salivated at the sight of pictures our guests took.

Decor & Cake - The Wedding Chateau (Najihah & Sarah)
After we saw TWC, there was no chance of anyone else doing the decor for the bride's event. It was a bit pricey & we had to re-consider the option at first - Puteri's package came inclusive of decor (and we know how caterer's decor are) and Jentayu (fully booked for my dates). Just go to the website yourself & tell me how can any bride to be say no to all those fresh flowers & gorgeous drapes & china.

Bridal - Lady Sophia (Sophie, Ria & Donna)
As the story before, I saw one of the dresses on a bride before on Facebook & I send her a PM. I went to Expo for a Perkahwinan Expo (never again) and decided in less than 30 minutes that they will be my bridal choice. Pretty, simple & elegant. Even my wedding planner had engaged her when she was married - need I say more.

Rushed to Geylang Serai (Joo Chiat Complex) 1 week before the wedding to get it done, seriously.

Photographer - Candidsyndrome Malaysia (Saiful Nang, Dinie & Azman)
Our official photographer for both events. We found SN on Wedding Photo Journalist Association (WPJA). After quite sometime of searching for a very good photographer we found a few in Singapore that will cost us a BOMB. We did a pre-wedding photoshoot in Malaysia with SN. And we flew him & Dinie to Singapore for our events here. Truly talented, we have had much fun when he shot us. He did Ning Baizura, Erra Fazira & other international (UK, China, Australia, USA) weddings and yes he costs us quite a bit but he's the only way of us re-living our wedding moments.

Henna - Syraskins
She's a doll. She also did my makeup for my ROMM on 30th Sept 2010. My henna was pretty & intricate. Click down for my individual post on her henna design.

Invitation cards - Jentayu Design (Malaysia) & Self made
Jentayu was fuss free. Suhaimi is very fast with my queries & efficient. His designs were simple & nice too (I am Nazi about designs). I had printed 570 from Jentayu but my parents used them up. So I created a self made batch using the pre-wedding pictures.

Favours - Packet Towels
My parents got this - 900+ pieces. Just a simple & fuss free thank you gift for those who came.

Catering - Kintamani
Kintamani buffets are yum! They are at Furama Riverfront so obviously the catering was by them. We didn't eat much but the guests loved it. Hope we can get a free buffet soon to make up for the lost time during our wedding day!

Not many Halal caterers for hotel weddings but they are one of the best especially in terms of food! (FF) Mama chose it. It was lovely.

FF decided on this one. They have a good selection of tuxs & other suits, even bridal dresses for rental/buy.

Event Photographer - Live Photography Studio
We noticed them during Adrian/Rachel's wedding. They were our guests photographer (sorry I forgot the photographer's name!) We loved the idea of instant pictures for our guests to take home (with the magnetic picture slot) and slideshow on the screen for everyone to see.

Last last minute. We got & confirmed them only a few weeks prior to our wedding! I can't remember the name of the guy that FF's liaised with, I could ask if you are interested (let me know). Only issue though, I didn't like the chime thing they used. I would have preferred solely just the kompangs, like traditionally.

Entertainment - Sri Mahligai
Chose & engaged by (FF) Mama. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their Malay Traditional performance.

Festive Hotel

I think it was last Tuesday that we went to Sentosa's Festive Hotel because (FF's) Mama got herself comped room. If you are wondering how come, it's because she is working in the hospitality industry & she gets quite a few comped rooms! So we decide to drop by & see how the hotel was. Pictures below.

It was alright & not a fancy hotel but it's colorful & full with art pieces - without being gaudy.

We have been busy trying to put things together & just last weekend we hosted some friends & family over. Fariheen's family have visited us before (but no pictures! we need to make this a habit!). About 1 month to the wedding and there's been some request (that I cannot avoid) so I need to choose 1 more outfit for the Friday's (groom) dinner.

And as of few days ago we did not have any kompang troop ;/ So now we found one (or rather 2 but we haven't decided on which). We will reveal them when we decide.

My parents has finished up the cards we got from Jentayu Design so I am left to figure out what invites to send to the remaining guests (all of them my friends) & printing (already designed) cards in Singapore is not cheap! $300+ for 100 copies! I printed (with design proposal) over 500 copies in KL for the same price + shipping! This problem I have yet to solve.

Also finalized the wedding reception menu for Sunday 19th Dec (more on that later).

With my parents leaving for Haj in 4 days, I pray that everything will follow through smoothly. Hope you're enjoying the long weekend!

First of, pardon us for the lack of updates. Moving on (if you dare, as warned in title).

Few weeks ago (after when we got back from our Putrajaya trip - more on that at a later post), we went down to the bridal gallery to choose the outfits we will be wearing on the 17th & 19th Dec. Downside is we didn't bring any cameras hence no pictures (and I wasn't sure if they'd let me take any). Upside is we love outfits we chose (obviously)!

I want to PM Putra Aziz to have Cosry if not in Singapore, at least in JB! But too late since by that time I would have already been married and I only intend to do it once.

When I was browsing FB, I saw this lovely picture of a lovely bride & her dress & makeup and that was it, I was smitten. The dress was gorgeous, the makeup was so sweet but maybe also cause the bride is pretty (in which case then I think I'm doomed LOL). I PM-ed her on FB & asked about her bridal gallery and that's how I found out about Lady Sophia Bridal. *happy*

The rest, well the rest is just that we engaged them & Kak Sophie (she's the owner & will be doing my makeup *yippie*) & Kak Donna (will be staying by my side on 19th Dec, she's pretty) are lovely. They don't really have a website except for a Multiply account, which isn't updated but you can always drop them a phone call (they have moved to insert address). And they are partners with Decorama who've been around in the malay wedding scene for the longest time so you can be rest assured.

Smitten all over again! The ones I saw on FB were prettier (these are a bit out dated but yeah you get the point - lovely!). Didn't want to rip off too much from the site.

Never had we imagine working with an overseas vendor (just email contact!) for one of our biggest day. And we did just that with Jentayu Design. They are so responsive it's unbelievable. All our queries were answered within 24 hours (or even lesser). Service is impeccable, design is quality & definitely a steal at such price (even with shipping)! Tiny glitch was that we had ordered a certain number of customized envelopes & it was short by about 20-30 (it was because we had ordered an uneven amount). They were kind enough to offer us plain envelopes & 'Thank you' bags (20 pieces) and also additional cards. Absolutely love their service.

Weekly ID Meetings

The progression at home with the renovation has been going on at a good rate & smoothly thus far, Alhamdulillah. We had our usual weekly ID meetings at Jalan Besar where Box.ID office is & this time we had a camera - with materials & colors galore - because it was time to pick them for our walls & closets.

Lights Shopping

More of lights sourcing rather than shopping since we will only be doing that next weekend with our interior designer.

We walked down Jalan Besar (lightings.com.sg) & Jalan Sultan (Lightcraft) & we were happy with what we saw. Between the both of us we have such exorbitant tastes! And we had to compromise with what would be the main feature & centre points of the house (most of the time her since she's the one with an actual room & fancying a feather/chandelier that costs S$430!) So she's going to make do with something similar & maybe customize it to her liking. Stay tune on this episode...

In the mean time some feature of the lights at Lightcraft (cause we didn't take any at lightings.com.sg - cheapest lights in Singapore! 110% guaranteed! We can vouch for that too cause saw some lights we liked at the shop and then went around the area & the difference in price was like double!).

Something interesting we saw whilst walking...super chic 'Wanderlust'. We saw lots (lots lots) bottles of Moet champagne - like Rick Ross was in the building - at the back alley so we assumed its new (launch party). Anyone been there? =)

They're very very responsive too. They answered all our queries via email in less than 1 day & got back to us on the design (upon deposit, which you can pay safely on a trusted portal online via credit card) in less than the promised 3 days. And we had some edits & they got back to us via email in less than 30 minutes! And how cute is that map! I have spent more than shoes then the total costs of 550 pieces of these lovelies shipped over into Singapore (meaning its really good price).

And if you finally figured out what that whole odd color shapes email with weird french words were & emailed us your mailing address (only for bride party), you will shortly be pleasantly smitten with our invites! Look out for it...in November!

We have decided on an interior designer, after so long! After going through uninspiring design & replicas many times around, they have shown us design inspiration & having a character to your place. We fell for it & absolutely loving it.

Renovation will hopefully begin next week or the week after National Day. For now we are busy looking for furnitures, appliances, etc.

Every day we are thankful of what Allah has given to us & we pray that even if one day all the good things are taken away from us, we will continue to live with God's mercy & with patience, and that everything he has given to us, even the water we drink & the lovely sight & power of hearing, is a reminder of the true blessings in life...Alhamdulillah...

We got registered at MND for our 'nikah' (registry of marriage) date.

Alhamdulillah all went went & Insya Allah, we'll be husband & wife at 9 am on 30th Sept 2010 (21 Syawal 1431).

Wedding vendors

We are half-relieved. He will be holding the wedding reception (dinner) at Furama Waterfront Hotel, all inclusive. Hence no headache over going through the lists of vendors (x2). So only she has to do all those! Bride dresses, makeup, photography, catering, decor, invitation cards, favours, bridal henna & many more.

Fortunately she knew what she wanted so it was very fast & a little bit painless (only 1 visit to a Malay wedding expo & fruitful).

She'll share what she has found out & chosen over in the next few posts, and hopefully it could help those who might need some help searching in the future!

In the meantime, he's coming over to her place shortly for the ritual chat sessions with her 'Ummi' & 'Abah'. :)

We're engaged - 18 April 2010

After a few months (after popping the question), after the meet the parents & grueling questioning sessions, we had a family-only engagement affair. Basically a very traditional one where his grandma put on the ring (on her).

The pictures were as simple as the affair.

And traditionally the 'guy' doesn't go over to the 'girl's (but not many people still practice this) so he stayed home while only the relatives came over to her's. But we stayed matching in blue :)

We will be doing the 'Registry of Muslim Marriages' (ROMM) on 30th September, legally (by state & religion) husband & wife. That is (as my side tab calculator says) in 67 days. Her parents are leaving for Haj in November & wanted to do the 'nikah' before they leave.

We've never felt more blessed & love with everyone around us & with the coming together of 2 families. We're still learning to put up & love with each other's side like our own & we pray that Allah brings us even closer & that the coming months will be a smooth sailing one & always with Allah's blessing. Amin.

We look forward to see you on 17th Dec 2010 (his) & 19th Dec 2010 (hers)!

For those who didn't know, we got a house for ourselves not too long ago. We've been looking at houses for a while & Alhamdulillah, Allah heard our prayers & we were blessed with one.

We've gotten the keys a while back & we had to wait for everything to fall in place. Once again we are truly blessed that everything seems to be in order. Our engagement (the pictures overdue but we will post a summary), meeting the parents, settling the wedding register & reception dates, shopping for interior designer, furniture, wedding vendors, amongst many others.
